As you may be aware of by now, Anthem Health, the parent company of Empire BC/BS was the target of cyber attack that exposed a variety of information regarding Private Health Information (PHI) to hackers. Due to the working relationship that the Plan has with Empire, we feel that our member’s PHI exposure is very limited at this time.
The forensic investigation is ongoing – Anthem disclosed this cyber-crime earlier than other organizations who had the same crime committed against them, and so pertinent details are still being uncovered. We do not know if any of the OUSDHP membership file was accessed – the identification of those members specifically affected is a key and time consuming part of the process.
